– – PNEM FESTIVAL, Uden(NL), 14.11.2015 – 15.11.2015 – –

On 14 and November 15, 2015 the Platform for New Experimental Music celebrates its first lustrum with the fifth PNEM Sound Art Festival in Uden NL.

In a well-equipped pocket theater (in a typical old transformer building), a platform is offered to various national and international artists. The compact location and the open design of the festival, creates meetings and discussions between artists, organizations and visitors. This leads again and again to new ideas and new initiatives.

We are happy to announce who will be performing live this year: Componisten van Oorspronkelijke Muziek NL, Ken Byers UK, PushPull DE, Radio Approxim NL, Renzo Spiteri MT, Studium:Stadt DE and The Feedback Gents DE.

There will be shown soundart videos of: La Cosa Preziosa IE, Julian Scordato IT, Dickie Webb NZ, Matthew Schoen CA and Osvaldo Cibils IT and soundart installations of: Lex Raijmakers NL en Thishearbeast IE.

The Wood Walk Experience has grown into an app, which can be heard now on 365 days a year in the nearby woods. The first artists will be: Alan Dunn UK, Barry O’Halloran IE, Bart van Dongen NL, David Prescott-Steed AU, David Rogers UK, Sam Marshall UK, Katherine Trimble USA, Osvaldo Cibils IT, Sandrine Deumier and Alx P.op FR and Simon Perez AR.

– – NODE+CODE, Frankfurt a.M., 16.11.2015, 18:00h – –

In a combined 9th and 10th edition of NODE+CODE, we will discuss the role of the human body in new music performances. In two lecture concerts, Steim researcher and musician Andi Otto (aka Springintgut) and the UDK Berlin based research group 3DMIN (»Design, Development and Dissemination of New Musical Instruments«) will present their findings and new musical instruments. In a conversation with #NODE15 curators Jeanne Charlotte Vogt and Alexandra Waligorski, they will be investigating the corporeality of the instrumental. Which significance do instruments have for musicians themselves and the audience in times of the digital creation of sound? Do we still have to consider virtuosity as a category to evaluate the relationship between a musician and his/her instrument?

Artist talk – Mico Rex 11.7.2014, 13h https://www.3dmin.org/artist-talk-mico-rex-11-7-2014-13h/ Sat, 05 Jul 2014 19:25:50 +0000 https://www.3dmin.org/?p=741 micoRexLetrasFondoChicoOn Fri, 11.7.2014, 13h, the same day as their performance at NK, Mico Rex will give a public artist talk in the scope of 3DMIN and the computational art class of UdK Berlin:

Universität der Künste Institut für zeitbasierte Medien, Grunewaldstraße 2, Schöneberg,  10823 Berlin, Germany. Free entrance.

From their webpage (we had to ommit the blinking, check it out yourself):

Mico Rex is an experimental electro-pop mexican duo founded in 2010 by Ernesto Romero and Jorge Ramírez, pionners in live programming in Mexico.

Described as sticky, melodic and danceable, within a kaleidoscope of styles such as 8bits/glitch, oldschool/electro, romantic style, punk, geek, breakz, fresh, bolero, vocal, finura, 80’s from the future!!!

The live performance is a combination of structured pieces and improvisation with code accompanied with voice and home-made controllers in pain.

The sound design, structure and composition are made upon programming code for hardware and software developed by the group members themselves. They consider code as the most flexible media for live electronics performance.

Tomomi Adachi is Japanese performer/composer, sound poet, instrument builder and visual artist. Known for his versatile style, he has performed his own voice and electronics pieces, site-specific compositions, improvised music and contemporary music works by John Cage, Cornelius Cardew, Christian Wolff and others in all over the world including Tate Modern, Maerzmusik, Centre Pompidou, Poesiefestival Berlin, Merkin Hall, Tempelhof Airfield, STEIM and Experimental Intermedia. He has performed with numerous musicians including Jaap Blonk, Nicolas Collins, Jon Rose, TAKAHASHI Yuji, Carl Stone, SAKATA Akira, Jennifer Walshe, Annette Krebs, ICHIYANAGI Toshi, Zbigniew Karkowski and OTOMO Yoshihide. CDs include the solo album from Tzadik, Omegapoint and naya records. He was a guest of the Artists-in-Berlin Program of the DAAD for 2012.
He presents his rare solo performance in Berlin with his self-made instruments and interfaces.

Trio Brachiale plays improvised electronic/computer music with a wide spectrum of technological and musical approaches. Founded in 2010 in Berlin for a concert evening of the Society for Nontrivial Pursuits, it consists of Dominik Hildebrand Marques Lopes, Hannes Hoelzl and Alberto de Campo. Besides many gigs in the Berlin area, we have played at a number of international festivals, conferences and other events, at times with guests like Mario de Vega, Echo Ho, Wu Na, Jeff Carey and others. All the Trio members work at the Berlin University of the Arts, teaching computational art and doing research on hybrid instruments.
Trio Brachiale explores the possibility space of multi-instrument setups, and the music one can make with them – from circuit-bent guitar pedals to boutique analog synths like the Blippoo box, and self-written synthesis programs played from controllers ranging from basic gamepads to the Manta to self-designed and -built controllers like The Finger and the Harmolodica.
Trio Brachiale performances can range from strictest free improvisation, aiming for flowing communication with zero premeditation and -discussion, to having a software conductor giving the members cues when to play with which instruments in order to structure the evolving musical textures. Surprise and be surprised!

Tobias Purfürst is a Berlin based producer/composer. His musical style covers a broad range of electronic music genres, from club tunes to experimental/conceptual compositions. One of his recent pieces is an improvisation, involving several sound generators, such as the Benjolin, No-Input Mixer and coil mic, competing with each other. Beside several collaborations and concerts with different musicians, his abstract solo work led him to play important places for experimental music, such as the ZKM, Feed and LEAP amongst others.
